Null pointer problem excel

Connect and share knowledge within a single location that is structured and easy to search. I'm trying to get some values in my java program from an excel. How can I "test" the cell before even reading it? Here's a piece of my code :.

I want to know if there's a possibility to check if the cell is empty before trying to read it, then I won't get the NPE.

Attached please find the template file as requested. I have also logged the case with Support. Verified Answer. Hi Alfred, The culprit null cell was H24 on first Sheet. This should be fixed in PPM 9. Hi Alfred, FYI, the created report will clean up all cells without values from the last line of each sheet, which means the text area you created on the right will look a bit truncated: In order to avoid this problem, you'll need to reduce bit the size of this area by one line. I notified Support to get in contact with you and that we have a workaround for now.

Glad to know things work fine now with the corrected template. Also the fix has already been pushed to PPM 9. Can you help me with this template? I got the same error and I cant find the guilty cell. Best regards. Hi Martin, I cannot reproduce the problem with my dev environment with your template, even after creating a dummy view to get the SQL to work.

Hi , I dont know how, but it just has been resolved. Best regards! Resources Support. There are built in functions that let you do that. Additionally, if you want to automate, there are some simple export codes that can be written in Access to do that. Perhaps, if I understood what your objective was, then I might be able to help you.

The Excel part of the code is OK until the line "excWorkbook. My guts feeling is that something in the objects for Access and Excel application are used wrong, but I don't know what. The data I am trying to transfer to Excel is stored in a table, However, in the code above, I setup some dummy data for "Product" and "Standerd", which would be extracted from a table, just want to try if the code works OK.

Could you please help. Regards, Lily. Last edited by SpringLily; at PM. What is your data? In saying that, here's an attempted modification of your code.

It may give you some ideas. I have reworded the code to always use a new instance of excel, while this may not be as memory efficient, I can say that it won't interfere with any existing work that you may be doing in excel in parellel to running the Accss code. Here's a link to a copyfromrecordset example that can pull data from an Access table, this would need some changes made, but you may be able to merge it with my suggestions
