This I have sorted out myself as Microsoft Technical Support have been worse than useless!!!!! Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 4 people found this reply helpful. When I type in either Mail or Word the Spelling Checker does not identify misspelled words and when I activate the spelling checker which is default to English United Kingdom it still does not work I just get a message that the check has been carried out and I'm good to go!!.

If I highlight the text and change the setting from English United Kingdom to English United States then the spelling checker identifies the mistakes underlined in red. I have downloaded the English United Kingdom language pack but that has made no difference.

Here are some solutions you should try. Turn off the autocorrect tool, restart your PC, and turn it back on. There are several ways to do this. Step 3: In the spelling section, toggle off both 'Autocorrect misspelled words' and 'Highlight misspelled words. You can also re-enable autocorrect on your PC by modifying the registry file that powers the autocorrect functionality.

Here's how. Step 2: Type regedit into the dialog box and click OK or hit Enter on your keyboard. Step 3: Paste the path below into the Registry Editor's address bar and hit Enter on your keyboard. That will disable your computer's autocorrect. To have it re-enabled, restart your PC and follow step 1 — 4.

Step 6: Next, change the value data of the EnableAutocorrection registry file from 0 to 1. Switching your PC's default keyboard language or region could help get autocorrect working again.

Perhaps, the Windows autocorrect feature isn't fully optimized for the keyboard or language of your choice. Change your keyboard language and see if it helps. That's not all. Need more help?
